The Scottish government would like you to design a campaign, which encourages households to consider ways in which they could store more food, making use of the seasons, traditional techniques and perhaps some new ones, also reducing our reliance on supermarkets, instant food gratification and reducing waste.

They do not want the campaign to be scaremongering, they want it to be positive and authentic - encouraging community activity, planning and slow preparation.

Rushing to buy food for dinner on your way home at the supermarket can be stressful and expensive. Whereas devoting time to preparing and preserving food when it is in season is cheaper, slow, rewarding and authentic.

Food is plentiful at a certain time of year. Mostly - but not limited to - the late summer harvest season. This is traditionally the time seasonal local food is in plentiful supply as it is preserved for winter months.
